I accept, I believe Scola is a better player then Thompson and I get ride of Nocionis contract giving me more cap space for free agency (and being that Jefferies second year is non guaranteed then if I cut him I wont have to pay it)

Jared Jeffries second year is a player option.

Options (player or team) can't be pick up or dropped until the end of the season and if I cut him before then he won't have the choice to pick it up

I believe he can. NBA contracts are guaranteed. He can be waived, but his contract will still be binding.

His contract must be upheld regardless of whether he plays for the team or not. So he still gets the choice to pick up his option. If that is the way it worked then Eddy Curry, Jarred Jeffries, Michael Redd and all these other bad contracts with player options would have been cut in real life a long time ago.

Ya even if you cut him you still have his salary on your team, and he still has a choice to accept the contract or not regardless if he is on your roster or not. Like what Knicks said then lots of players with player options would then be released and their player options would be forgotten following your logic.

If thats so then I reject HOU has to as well, it wouldn't be fair, plus it happened to me, and I doubt he will, but what ever.

Normally we have the rule that, if a GM says he 'accepts' in the trade thread (this thread), then he can't back out of the deal. James posted, in his acceptance, that he's accepting based on the condition that Jared Jeffries contract expires at the end of this season if he cuts him.
Cut players with [teal]Player Options[/teal] automatically accept their POs when they are cut. Cut players with [red]Team Options[/red] automatically have their TOs declined by their team when they are cut. Cut players with [red]Qualifying Offers[/red] are also declined by their team when cut.
Therefore I'll allow James to decline this deal.
